Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure

Last updated

A site about wedding budgets should be upfront about its own money. Here's exactly how Petal & Plan gets paid.

Some links on Petal & Plan are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy something, we may earn a commission. You don't pay more because of it.

Today, our affiliate partner is Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We link to things like bud vases, table number holders, easels, ribbon, card boxes and day-of emergency kit supplies.

Other partners may come later. We may join other affiliate programs, for example invitation printers, bridal shops or hotel booking sites, through networks like Awin. If we do, this page will be updated to name them, and each post with those links will say so.

Posts that contain affiliate links include a short notice near the top, and we place the disclosure close to the recommendation, as the FTC asks.

Our free and paid printables never carry Amazon links. Amazon doesn't allow its links in PDFs or printed material, so any shopping list inside a download is plain text.

What commissions can and can't affect

We'd rather be honest about this than pretend money has no influence at all.

Commissions may affect which products we have links for. If a store has an affiliate program, we're more likely to link to it. Some good options don't offer one, and we'll still mention them when they're the better fit, without a link that pays us.

Commissions don't affect our assessment. What we say about cost, quantity, quality and who a product suits is based on research of public product information, prices and user reviews. Unless a post says we've used the product ourselves, we haven't tested it hands-on. A higher payout never earns a product a better spot on a list.

Free and borrowed come first when they work. A lot of good wedding planning costs nothing: a borrowed easel, thrifted bud vases, a free printable seating chart. We won't push a purchase when a free option does the job.

Display ads

Petal & Plan doesn't show display ads yet. If we add them later, third-party ad partners will choose the ads, and seeing an ad here won't mean we recommend the company. If an ad on our site ever looks like a scam, email the page link and a screenshot to [email protected] and we'll report it.

Our templates

We sell wedding planning templates, like budget, guest list and timeline planners, and some printables are free with an email signup. When a post links to one of our own templates, that's our product and we keep the revenue. We say so on the page.

We don't currently publish sponsored posts or accept free products for review. If that changes, sponsored content will be labeled "Sponsored" at the top, and sponsors won't approve or edit what we write.

Why we disclose

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission requires creators to disclose material connections to the brands they mention. Beyond the rule, you deserve to know who's paying when you're deciding where your wedding budget goes.
